Jonathan
Jonathan Weir is an established pianist and composer with a decade and a half worth of Classical study on the piano. Jonathan studied for two years at the New England Conservatory preparatory program in Boston under Yoon-Wha Roh and A. Ramón Rivera. Jonathan also studied for four years within the Hartt School music program, under Maggie Francis. Jonathan graduated Magna Cum Laude and received a degree in piano performance and composition. He gained experience in performance techniques, pedagogy, history, ear training, theory, and vocal accompaniment. He also sang with the Hartt School Chorale that performed in such esteemed venues as Woolsey Hall, at Yale University.
Jonathan is a dedicated teacher and is passionate about Classical studies, analysis, and musicology. He has a wealth of knowledge in Classical repertoire and takes great pride in his understanding of artistic interpretation. His favorite aspect of music is the opportunity to share it and validate a genre that, in his opinion, is too often overlooked or not fully appreciated or understood. Jonathan firmly believes that Classical music is for everyone and that anyone can find oneself in it. Jonathan deeply desires to share his experience with you today with a unique combination of teaching and performance, in hopes that you may come to love and appreciate Classical music as he does.
Jonathan has achieved great success in worship ensembles and, for many years, has worked closely with worship singers to produce music for Sunday services. He proudly serves the International Churches of Christ through singing and playing piano and dedicates his performances to its members, who listen.
